Virat Kohli achieved yet another milestone in his career and became the first Indian to score 11000 runs in T20 cricket. The former India captain remained unbeaten on 49 in the 2nd T20I against South Africa.
Virat Kohli continued to shatter records in international cricket and etched his name in history books once again. The first Indian batsman to compete for 10000 runs in T20 cricket, Kohli has now become the first Indian to score 11000 runs.
The former India captain achieved the milestone in the 2nd T20I of the series against South Africa in Guwahati. He seemed in touch throughout his innings and remained unbeaten on 49 off 28. Kohli was just 19 runs short of the 11000-run milestone and achieved it soon.
He now sits at the 4th spot in the list of batsmen with most runs in T20s. The list is topped by Chris Gayle, who has 14562 runs in 463 matches. Kieron Pollard sits at the 2nd spot with 11915 runs in 614 matches. Shoaib Malik acquires the 3rd spot and has 11902 in 481 matches.
Kohli has 11030 runs in only 353 matches and can very well end his career as the top-placed batsman in the list. While the top 3 batsmen have played for multiple teams in their respective careers, Kohli has only played T20 cricket for India, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi.
Among Indians, he is followed by Rohit Sharma. The India captain has 10544 runs in 399 matches. Shikhar Dhawan follows his India captain and has 9235 runs in 317 matches.
Kohli was once the highest run-scorer in T20I cricket and is eyeing to regain the top spot in top-flight cricket. He sits next to Rohit in that list.
Talking of the ongoing T20I, India have put up a huge total of 237 on the board. Kohli played his part in the total and remained unbeaten on 49. Rohit Sharm (43) and KL Rahul (57) gave India a dream start and added 96 runs for the first wicket. Suryakumar Yadav propelled the team to big total with his knock of 61 off just 22 balls.
